*the secret code is in the "repeat" section of this email* Hi Reader, Do you ever feel like the more work you put into something, the less prepared you feel? (Counterintuitive, I know. But stick with me for a minute...) The last couple weeks have been a whirlwind of prepping for my first craft market since last year. I've been working on my booth layout (which has completely taken over our guest bed) and added a new (non-earring) product to the line up. This burst of activity has my creative juices FLOW-ING. The uptick in activity means an explosion of new ideas and with the St Peter's Holiday Craft Show coming in just 10 days, I am going to have to make peace with the fact that some of these ideas will have to wait. (Though you bet I'm going to try to make as much as I can in the next week and a half!!) It's been fun and is proof that the cure for boredom/feeling stuck/a lack of ideas is to take some action. Curious about what I've been makings? One of the polymer clay rabbit holes I've slid down in my preparation is the books. Remember the pink bookstack earrings I showed you last time? Well, I loved them so much that I decided I should make them in blue. Then, I must've been bewitched by the macaron color fairies because the next thing I knew I was surrounded by clay and had made a rainbow of soft sherbet-y colored book stacks. Oops! Now I have earrings, necklace pendants, magnets, and wine glass charms. This delectable bookish rainbow will make it's debut on November 7 before making it's way to my shop. Aren't they delightful?! Dance Most dance related activity is paused right now. Here are some reminders of dance things I've mentioned recently. The danger is high - we just resubscribed to Netflix and I've already binged the newest season of Nobody Wants This. Plus holiday movie season is nearly upon us. Hopefully the rest of my curated fall reading list holds up! Repeat Come see me at the St Peter's UCC Skokie Holiday Craft Show and Bake Sale on Saturday, November 7, from 10am to 3pm and get a free pair of studs with any purchase! I’ll be in the main room. this email may contain affiliate links Hi Reader, This year both of my kids are in the same school for the first time. My days have more space than they've had in a long time, but I'm still finding my footing, still working out what my days and routines look like, and reflecting on the big question: what now? It's a challenging question to answer, and I'm doing my best not to rush into a hundred new projects before truly reflecting on whether or not I really want to be doing those projects......
Happy Friday Reader, Sending out a quick message before I run to school pick up to let you know about 2 awesome events happening tomorrow: RE|Dance is having their Movement & Mimosas on Saturday from 12:30-2:30pm at the Rooted Space. This event is SO FUN. There's drinks, there's snacks, and Lucy teaches an upbeat ALL LEVELS jazzy dance class. Last time they did this I brought a friend who had a BLAST... and then I found out she had never taken a dance class before. Seriously. It's so much...
Hi Reader, Today in the US, we are observing Labor Day and I thought this would be the perfect time to share the 2nd episode of craft.dance.read.repeat which is all about mending. Making clothes last and being a conscious consumer of textiles has become a core value of mine over the last decade. And the more I learn, the more I want to practice mending, making my own clothes, thrifting, and shopping ethically and sustainably. The fashion industry employs over 60 million factory workers...
